Dreaming Worlds Into Existence
Have you ever woken up from a dream so vivid, you felt like you were there? A dream that gave you a longing for a life that never was. Emotions for people that never existed. Something that didn’t leave your head for days on end? I have dreams like this sometimes. They come unannounced and uninvited, and they refuse to leave. They linger in the back of my mind like a melody you can’t stop humming, except it’s not a melody — it’s a world. Complete with people I’ve never met but somehow know. Places I’ve never been but could draw from memory. Stories that unfolded while I slept, with beginnings and middles and endings that felt more real than my morning coffee. Usually they don’t let go until I do something with them. Usually, I write them down. Not in a diary. I write down their stories. That’s how Within Range came to be. And before that, Xenoforming. Actually, all of my favorite stories came to me in a dream. Dreams I obsessed about so much that I wrote them into my books. The ones that haunt me are always the ones that turn out best — as if
Howler’s Den: A Story for the Dark Days
Wait, wait, wait. Another unannounced release out of the blue? What’s the meaning of this? Fair questions. Howler’s Den is another one of my unplanned ventures. Admittedly, it’s outside my usual style—lighter fantasy, heavily cliché, novelette length. If you’re expecting Xenoforming’s tone, recalibrate. You see, I have a friend going through some rough times. The type of times I know too well. The type where everything you do seems to result in more negative outcomes. Where you feel like everything you touch turns rotten. Where nothing good seems to be happening, even when it is—you just can’t see it anymore. I’ve been through those times. And this friend, along with her band of random strays, were the reason I started seeing the world differently. Howler’s Den is my tribute to that. Not just a novelette that might help people in their darkest moments, but something I can’t put into words with my mouth. So I put it into words on paper instead. The story follows Cyrie, a young mage whose magic warms and strengthens everyone around her—but doesn’t work on herself. She’s a light for others while standing in the darkness herself. On her journey, she collects a group of
Nine Years, One Book, and No More Promises
After ten thousand… I mean nine long years, it’s finally done. Today, I’m proud to announce that Xenoforming: GENERATION ZERO is out and available for purchase. When I started, I had no idea how things would turn out, how life would change, or what would become of it all. Generation Zero is shorter than I would have liked, but I’ve reworked and redrafted this novel so many times that I eventually decided to keep it simple. I’m going to do it like many of the Asian authors I read: write what I want to write, tell it at the pace that feels right, and if it comes out short, so be it. Hopefully, this way the third book won’t take another nine years. Ľubo wouldn’t forgive me. He barely finished beta-reading this one before asking when the next is coming. Here’s the thing about Generation Zero: while First Contact was your first step into the world of Xenoforming, for me, most of the story began with scenes from this book. I just couldn’t fit them into the first one, so they ended up here. That’s part of why it took so long. I wanted it to be perfect, and it’s
Quarterly Chaos: Coffee, New Book, and What’s Next
Another quarter down, another update. Two posts in one year—new record. Coffee-fueled project → actual book I’ve been haunting WildShape, our local nerdy coffee place. Nico (the owner) convinced me to give a talk on book publishing… which snowballed into its own book: DIY & DIE HAPPY: A Self-Publishing Survival Guide for New Writers What’s already out What’s next Beta readers & brave volunteers I’m still looking for beta readers and guinea pigs for odd experiments and early chapters.Subscribe to the newsletter and I’ll occasionally open seats at the experimental table. Websites & a small merch detour I’m dusting off the other blogs I’ve been neglecting and pushing a simple merch store live. It’s a hobby move: I want to wear my own characters and figured—why not let you do the same? Expect small, curated drops, not a flood. Yes, the blogs have heard this speech before. This time I brought a broom. That’s the quarter That’s it for now. I don’t expect another shadow release this year… but if I miraculously finish something and get impatient (as always), you’ll be the first to know. See you soon—maybe in a book.
Pages, Projects & Plot Twists
Welcome to the chaos update! After nearly a year of suspicious silence, a lot has changed on this site — and beyond. So let’s break it down like a sane person trying to organize an overflowing drawer of half-finished manuscripts. One Author, Many Hats (and Websites) In the spirit of both clarity and chaos management, I’ve officially split my online presence into multiple themed corners: And to hold this madness together, I created arponexus.com — the umbrella platform where all my projects meet, nod at each other, and try not to fight. Book News: From Zero to Trilogy and beyond The Library section got a major facelift — same as the entire website. More importantly: What’s New in the Revised Xenoforming: First Contact? Nothing has changed in the overall story — but the narrative, pacing, and stylistic editing have all improved significantly. In fact, the book is now almost twice as long. Some scenes have been updated or replaced entirely, and previously rushed sections have been clarified and expanded. It’s the version I wish I had published the first time around — and the perfect launchpad for what comes next. Coming Soon (Like, Actually Soon) After nearly a decade of
The slow passage of silent things
It’s time for another update. Last year I announced a few new things and then I had to take a break. It has been a turbulent time. As they say, it’s one thing after another.. First there were changes in my private life, which thus became more private, then the display on my laptop decided to go to the eternal hunting grounds. You say to yourself excuse. After all, you have a desktop computer too. The truth is that my laptop is my number two life partner. It not only fills in my blind spots, it replaces me with its flexibility as a companion with whom we can create in unison. Without it, I’m left really screwed. Tomorrow is March 20, and I have to show it off. Together with my editor, we made the winter deadline. No time pressure or other nerves, despite neither of us working to any kind of proper schedule. However, I’m happy to report that Xenoforming – Reissue (Slovak Edition) is out and the first chapter, along with the prologue, is available online today. I’ll be bringing you the next chapters at short notice. We’d like to release the print re-release in English after the
A roadmap for the future
After the successful launch of my new website, version 3.0, it’s time for an update. We have a few things coming up in the next few months. First of all, a brand new book release will be published. It will first be available here, on my website, for free. It’s a brand new story outside of the Xenoforming universe. I decided to do this title first to improve on some of my writing shortcomings and also to motivate myself a bit. I really needed a change for a while. The book in question will be released gradually. We will start with an English release, one chapter per week. After I am finished with the weekly releases, I will give it a second glance, probably fix some mistakes I missed, and then we will go to an Amazon print version for anyone who would like to add the book to their collection. That’s the last step, simply because preparing the book for print costs money and takes a lot of time, and I would like the book to be available to the public as soon as possible. The Slovak version of the book will be released in a similar manner; I just
