After ten thousand… I mean nine long years, it’s finally done. Today, I’m proud to announce that Xenoforming: GENERATION ZERO is out and available for purchase.
When I started, I had no idea how things would turn out, how life would change, or what would become of it all. Generation Zero is shorter than I would have liked, but I’ve reworked and redrafted this novel so many times that I eventually decided to keep it simple. I’m going to do it like many of the Asian authors I read: write what I want to write, tell it at the pace that feels right, and if it comes out short, so be it. Hopefully, this way the third book won’t take another nine years. Ľubo wouldn’t forgive me. He barely finished beta-reading this one before asking when the next is coming.
Here’s the thing about Generation Zero: while First Contact was your first step into the world of Xenoforming, for me, most of the story began with scenes from this book. I just couldn’t fit them into the first one, so they ended up here. That’s part of why it took so long. I wanted it to be perfect, and it’s not. Not by a long shot. I had to come to terms with the fact that it never will be.
After I finished First Contact, I thought I was a genius. Reading it years later, after I’d improved my craft, I simply had to do a re-edition, because it no longer did itself justice. This one will probably be the same. In a few years, I’ll look back at Generation Zero and cringe. That said, I hope you’ll enjoy it despite its flaws.
I’d like to thank everyone who never gave up on this story: my family, my friends, and my readers. Your patience means more than I can say.
As for what’s next: I’m not making promises. I’ve made too many over the past nine years, and most of them turned out differently than intended. What I can tell you is that the next Xenoforming book is already underway. Darius, Oliver, and Sofia aren’t going anywhere. Their story will continue, and I want to get into a rhythm of releasing more consistently. I’d love to hit three books a year across all my projects. Maybe more if things go right, but I have a habit of promising unrealistic schedules, so I’ll hold back this time.
In the meantime, I’ve been working to improve not just my writing but also my formatting and publishing skills. I’ll soon be re-releasing some of my older work in new editions. The current edition of First Contact barely holds up to the standard I’ve set for myself now. For those keeping count, the upcoming revision will mark its fourth edition.
Beyond Xenoforming, a one-shot sports novel should be out soon, and I’m also dabbling in LitRPG. I’m pretty passionate about that project, so I’m curious how I’ll be received by that community. You can always check the library section of this website to see what I’m working on. Ever since I reworked this site (yes, I rework everything), I’ve been trying to keep it updated, and I’m mostly succeeding.
Thank you for reading. Feel free to check out my other work, and I’ll see you in the next one.
